In the dissertation research, based on a wide range of updated sources, some of which are first introduced into scientific circulation, and scientific literature, the role of representatives of the untitled branch of the Kochubey family in the socio-political and socio-cultural life of Ukraine at the end of the XVIII-beginning of the XX century is clarified.
The state of scientific development of the problem is determined, the source base of the work is characterized, the theoretical and methodological base is substantiated, in particular the application of research principles and methods, the personal composition of six generations of an untitled branch of the Кochubey family is established, the family environment, network connections are clarified and a prosopographic portrait of the genus is drawn on their basis. The ways of acquiring the nobility by representatives of the untitled branch of the Kochubey family, their place in the noble community of the Northern Left Bank, and participation in the activities of class-representative bodies are established. The main everyday practices are identified, the educational strategies of representatives of the genus are characterized – the stages of obtaining education, the choice of educational institutions, and so on. When describing family and marriage strategies, attention is paid to the criteria for choosing marriage partners.
The main directions of socio-political activity of representatives of the Kochubey family are determined. Their state and military service are analyzed, and the main areas of work in local self-government bodies are described. The role of representatives of the genus in the scientific life of the country, contribution to the dissemination of scientific knowledge is established. The main directions of charitable activities of representatives of the Kochubey family, in particular, support for the socio-humanitarian, cultural and artistic sphere, the development of religious buildingsare clarified.
The main sources of formation of Кochubey family estates are identified, their main directions of economic and entrepreneurial activity are clarified – innovations in the agricultural sector, the development of enterprises for processing mineral resources.
