The thesis research provides an integrated analysis of the system of scientific support of the activity of courts which is based on the theoretical work of the judicial sciences, procedural law, the theory of state and law, philosophy and other provisions of national legislation, the practice of domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights, and existing statistical data. As a result, a number of important theoretical provisions for the development of the judiciary science and judicial practice activity were formulated and substantiated as well as the proposals to the current legislation capable of improving the process of law-enforcement. Taking into account the author's positions, the key definitions for the research sphere were interpreted. Thus, there is proposed the author's understanding of the concept of “scientific support of the courts”, determined its goal and characteristics. The position is substantiated, according to which the organization of scientific support of the courts is based on such principles as scientific, ethics, information, and the principle of proper organization. The levels and directions of scientific support of the courts are differentiated. The classification of functions, subjects and forms of scientific support; judicial activity as an object of scientific support; digests of the Supreme Court's judicial practice is proposed. The scientific potential of the judiciary, perspectives for its development, as well as interactions with the scientific community in order to ensure the efficiency of the judicial system are analyzed.
