Essay

The study shows that the "Care of thyself" construct can be defined as a set of various meaningful and disciplined socio-cultural practices, which should promote spiritual growth, physical and mental improvement, self-understanding and self-construction by a subject striving for self-cognition and self-development, and building his life harmoniously in a complex and contradictory social space. At the same time, the studied socio-cultural construct demonstrates polysemanticity and a variety of possible interpretations. It was found that in modern studies of the theory and practice of the "Care of thyself" (also the "self-care") a great role is played by the philosophical position of enactivism, which represents the subject's consciousness as a synthetic process of forming a picture of reality through interaction between brain, body and environment. The key notion of enactivism is an experience. No less important cognitive practice, which can be considered effective for understanding the issue of "self-care", is constructivism. It is a set of epistemological approaches, among which the most common is epistemological constructivism.
