The dissertation research is devoted to the problem of organization of extracurricular work of students on labor training.
The relevance of the study is due to the renewal of the legal framework and educational standards of modern secondary education, which requires appropriate changes in the system of organization of subject training, including labor training. Development of principles of the organization of labor training of pupils of 5–9 classes in the conditions of the New Ukrainian school causes necessity of formation of the creative, comprehensively developed personality of the pupil during class and extracurricular activity. This highlights the need to update approaches to school education, expanding opportunities for the implementation of the tasks of labor training of students in extracurricular activities.
The curricula of general secondary education institutions provide for three main forms of organization of labor training: lessons, independent extracurricular work of students, excursions, work practice. Due to the fact that the study time for extracurricular independent work of students is 1/3 of the total study time, it is important to properly organize it, which guarantees the acquisition of knowledge and practical skills necessary for students to acquire basic and key competencies defined by the State Educational standard of basic and complete general secondary education. This necessitates the updating of forms of organization and methods of extracurricular educational activities of students in labor training.
However, the study of the views of I. Androschuk, O. Bykovska, V. Verbytsky, I. Verimiychik, O. Kobernyk, M. Pelageichenko, B. Stuparyk, D. Thorzhevsky, A. Tsyna, L. Chistyakova and others. the most effective forms of organization of the educational process indicates the lack of justification of the nature, content and structure of extracurricular activities of students in labor training, principles, organizational and pedagogical conditions of formation, criteria, indicators and levels of readiness for extracurricular activities. This is due to the fact that in the curricula of schools, the specific form of education has an excessively exaggerated share. Established by a number of decrees of the first half of the 1930-s, the class form was established in contrast to the brigade-laboratory method, which was unjustifiably withdrawn, which eventually turned into a serious constraint on the development of secondary school. Radical measures in this direction have not yet been found and implemented.
Much attention is paid to this problem in state documents, in particular in the Law of Ukraine "On Education" (2017), the Concept of "New Ukrainian School" (2016), "Concept of Education of Ukraine for the period 2015–2025", the State Standard basic secondary education (2020), the Standard educational program for 5–9 grades of general secondary education (2021), letters of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 27.07.2012 № 1/9-530 On the education of modern citizens in a multicultural environment by means of extracurricular works", etc.
The multifaceted nature of the problem of methods of organizing extracurricular activities of students in labor education is reflected in various areas of pedagogical research, which are carried out at the levels of general secondary and higher pedagogical education.
Theoretical and methodological principles of professional training of teachers of labor training for the organization of extracurricular work on labor training are considered in the studies of I. Androschuk, I. Veremiychyk, O. Kobernyk, V. Tytarenko, D. Thorzhevsky, A. Tsyna, L. Chistyakova. Theoretical principles of organization of extracurricular activities of students in the context of the educational process are considered in the scientific works of V. Bereka, O. Bykovska, O. Blagosmyslov, M. Blyzniuk, V. Verbytsky, M. Gryshchenko, L. Delingevich, K. Delikatny, G. Kostyuk, O. Kudri, G. Maiboroda, V. Onyschuk, G. Pustovita, B. Stuparyk and others.
