Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of microglial cells: their morphogenesis and migration during postnatal development of the brain, to the comparison of the topographical distribution of ramified microglia in the different areas of the adult brain using a number of microglial markers and reaction of microglia to the injury of the different etiology. It was demonstrated that lipocortin-1 revealed the greatest number of microglial cells with complete morphological characteristics of microglia as compared with phosphotyrosine and isolectin. During postnatal development microglia migrated from subventricular zone throughout brain. It was shown that activated microglia were accumulated in CA1 area of the hippocampus after ischemia. The response of microglia was observed in the trigerminal brainstem sensory nuclei ipsilateral to the infraorbital nerve transection. Activated microglia reacted rapidly and more intensively comparing with astrocytes after laser irradiation.
