Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the management of hypercapnia and respiratory acidosis using progesterone in cor pulmonale patients. The positive effect of progesterone on blood gas composition and acid-base system develops 1week after initiation of therapy, achieving its maximum in 2 weeks. Then the stable level of physiological indices is usually observed. The pharmacodynamics of progesterone comprises stimulation of pulmonary ventilation - an increase of tidal volume, and reduction of respiration rate and deade spase.
