The dissertation studies the sources, evolution and the process of the development of the Zaporozhya Sich Naval Fleet in the 16th-18th centuries, its structural organisation, technology and the war art. A.Sokuulskij's study proves that the birth and the evolution of the Zaporozhya Sich Naval Fleet are organically linked with the organithation and the functioning of the whole Kozak's Army. The Kozak's naval wars were characterised by preventive and counter-offensive features.
