The literary-artistic Ukrainian intelligentsia ‘s role in society and activity in circumstances of ukrainization on the grounds of modern methodological approaches, analysis of archive materials and published sources is analyzed. Main trends of the literary-artistic intelligentsia’s professional activity and its role in the process of ukrainization is discovered.The literary-artistic intelligentsia’s contribution to the revival of national cultural traditions, to the upsurge of cultural level and Ukrainian citizens’ national consciousness are revealed.The soviet power’s means directed to the establishment of party’s monopoly in culture are shown and negative influence of public and cultural life ideologization on the role in society and the literary-artistic intelligentsia’s activity are analyzed. In the context of totalitarian regime strengthening, curtailment of ukrainization the literary-artistic Ukrainian intelligentsia’s tragic fate is interpreted.
