The dissertation contains research of history development of a national comonent in the Ukrainian school textbooks on reading for the younger scholboys for a period 1857-1997. In work the principles of selection and compositin o the contents of the educational literature on reading for children of younger school age are covered. Is certain periods of creation of the textbooks on the given interval of time. The purpose and tasks of occirrence of new generatiion of the textbooks for a Ukrainian elementary scool is reasonable, that has allowed to increase arguments for the benefit of a rod autor's situation about an integrationg role ethnology during mastering a national component of the contentes of formation.
