The thesis dives the results of the complete historical and pedagogical analysis of the district departments of education activities for skill improvement of pedagogical training specialists in Ukraine. As a result the rational division into periods is grounded on the basis of objective factors. The specificity of social and pedagogical conditions of every period has been revealed. Accordingly the specificity of the maintenance, the structure, the forms of the district departments of education activities for skill improvement of pedagogical training specialists has been revealed too. The genesis of the methodological structural subdivisions of district departments of education has been defined. The methodical recommendations have been devised.
