Essay

There have been studied the efficacy of medicine Tecom, containing 45% of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, on eicosanoid system, platelet aggregation and several heart-lung parameters in cor pulmonale patients. The promotion of 5-cyclooxygenase product synthesis together with decrease of leukotrienes content has been revealed. The 4-week therapy with Tecom led to significant inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolite production. This resulted in improvement of some pulmonary hemodynamic and ventilatory indices, and decrease of platelet aggregation.
