Kurlyak I. The development of classic education in Western Ukrainian regions (the 19-th - the first half of the 20-th centuries).

This dissertation is dedicated to historical pedagogical aspects of the development of classic education in the Western Ukrainian regions - in Galichina, Bukovina, Zakarpatya and Volin during their staying under power of different states and during a short-term existense of Ukrainian status in the period of Western Ukrainian People's Republic. In the dissertation the main tendency and aducational peculiarities of the three closely conected establishments of classic education - gymnasiums, lyceums and universities in Western Ukrainian regions in the 19-th and the first half of the 20-th centuries are investigated. The main attention is paid to political, economical and sociocultural condition of formation of Ukrainian classic education in different regions of Western Ukraine, to the role of progressive Ukrainian intelligentsia and clergy. The central place in thise work is assigned to analysis of the content of education in classic educational establishments, to the examination ofmotives of essence of s chool reforms.The influence of educational policy, ideology and legislation of aggressive countries to the formation, development and stop of the action ukrainian's classical establishments are also reflected in the rezults. The ways of creative use of national experience of the best schools in modern conditions of independent Ukraine are shown.
