Essay

The dissertation investigates the role reality problem that is actualized by those transformations taking place in Ukraine in the post-socialist society. These transformations including both constructional and destruction possibilities can be influenced by the appropriate social politics. It demands taking into account the human factor and its representations in different social formations. The concept of the social essence of the human being with new implications is reappraise and given concrete expression in this research work. It is determined that conflicting character of representative forms of person-ality in classical and neoclassical theories is connected with the appearing of new approaches to the essence of a human being. The classical theory identifies the es-sence as an aggregate of essential powers, but neoclassical theory postulates an ag-gregate of the essential potentialities. This dissertation shows that the only way of existence for a human being is his co-existence with other human b eings; that creates human versatility and intro-duces the notion of human-measured history. It is indicated that the role realities determine interminable and never-ending nature of the human wish to play definite roles in history. Such an interminability is the requirement of historical process and the reserve for the role identifications, where the role reality is a shortened code for managing social behavior by the society. The role reality as a metaphysical idea gives some reasons for the interpreta-tion of the definite social historical phenomenon connected with the vital world of a human being, nation, community. Such an approach is also worked out in the dis-sertation. Key words: role activity, role discourse, homo social, social mask, social role, identity.
