Essay

The dissertation is devoted to a study of the dynamics of the formation of the retroperitoneal space and spatial-temporal interrelations of its organs and structures during the whole period of the intrauterine development. By means of modern morphologic methods it was possible to trace the sequence of the formation of the retroperitoneal organ complexes. During the third month the primordia of preorgan and retroorgan fasciae delimited by interperitoneal cellular tissue layers are formed due to a gastro-intestinal version and initially intraperitoneally situated duodenum, pancreas and their mesenteries with the embryonic parietal peritoneum. These serve as a conventional border between the retroperitoneal space and peritoneal cavity. Fascial-cellular tissue spaces are formed at the end of the prefetal period between the posterior abdominal wall layers of the retroperitoneal fascia and retroperitoneal organs: the retroperitoneal, paranephros, paraureteral spaces proper and the space of the suprarenal gla nd. The organs of the retroperitoneal space develop in a close topographo-anatomical interaction with the contiguous organs of the peritoneal cavity, causing their respective syntopic fields in foetuses.
