Essay

The thesis reveals special features of the philosophy of education, determines its functions. Historico-pedagogical analysis of the philosophy of education of western civilization in the Age of Enlightenment. The work gives a pedagogical interpretation of the philosophical anthropology of English, French, and German enlighteners, axiological, methodological and hermenevtical aspects of their philosophico-pedagogical systems are under review. Comparative analysis of the philosophy of education of West European Enlightenment and Ukrainian philosophico-pedagogical thought of XVII-XVIII centuries is made, the meaning of the enlighteners' ideas is discovered.
