The mechanisms underlying the genetic control of actinomycete resistance to antibiotics have been investigated together with with the roles of genetic determinants of antibiotic resistance in the biosynthesis of the antibiotics erythromycin by Saccharopolyspora erythraea, spiramycin by Streptomyces ambofaciens, daunorubicin and doxorubicin by Streptomyces peucetius subsp. caesius as well as kanamycin by Streptomyces kanamyceticus.
