Essay

Subject - the regularities of recurrence of interrelations of the ear productivity with different quantitative characters and indices in the process of correlation and regression, cluster analyses, variation and heritability of traits and indexes and the degree of their stability; Aim - theoretical substantiation and practical realization of the breeding programme of the development of intensive, half-intensive winter wheat varieties for the conditions of the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe; Methods - field, genetic, physiologocal, biochemical, molecular, a method of variance analysis, the cluster method; Value and novelty of investigations - with the use of genetic and correlation approach when studying variability, heritability of traits and indices, the breeding programme of the development of adapted, competitive winter wheat varieties with higher frost, lodging resistance, high baking properties, and yield for the conditions of the Forest-Steppe is substantiated; the new selection methods at the early stages of breeding with the use of indirect marker characters and indexes, new approaches in the identification of breeding lines on the grouping traits, the quest for productive genotypes on the basis of cluster analysis are devised; Introduction - on the grounds of theoretical research and devised methods four winter wheat cultivars are developed, their sown area in the Poltava region makes up yearly about 100 thou. ha; Field of application - breeding institutions, agriculture.
