The thesis defines main tendencies, problems of the development of theory and practice of children upbringing on the basis of orthodox morality in Ukraine. The Ukrainian orthodox educational and upbringing traditions are defined on the basis of comparative analysis of church and scientific - pedagogical views with respect to the development of theory and practice of the children upbringing based on the orthodox morality. The historical phenomena of the orthodox pedagogics as the one of the churching is discovered. The process of the development of orthodox education in Ukraine is represented in the context of the general European process of the development of pedagogical thought. The ways of influence of Christianity as a world religion on the development of pedagogical thought in Ukraine are determined. The influence of Christianity on the present state of secular pedagogical science in Ukraine is studied. The practice of addressing the problem of the moral and religion education in the countries of Europe and the USA is handled.
