The object is the Orthodox Church in Ukraine is the institutional structure in social, cultural, national and politic modernization of society. The aim - to determine genesis and character of the institutional schism of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine in the context of world's process of modernization and interaction of social and cultural factors; to characterize the poly variation, scale of schism, peculiarities of organizational structure and evolution of religions, which evolved from this schism. Methods - comparative-historical, historical-typological, problem-chronological, synchronic, diachronic, retrospective, system-structural, statistical. The institutional schism of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine within the period of modernization (XIX c. - the 30-s of XX c.), its genesis and character are investigated in a complex way in the light of the structural analysis of social events and the church hierarchy power. It describes the role of the following global factors of the church schism and reformation: influence of the world civilizations, national revolution, communistic system. The contents and social resonance of modern church ideas are defined on the levels of the confession structure. It follows the interdependence between the dynamics of the schism and the policy of the state, the ideology of the parties involved into the conflict. The spheres of use are the training courses and state policy.
