The object of research is the South region of Ukraine in common-national historical process of the XIX-the beginning of the XX century. The aim is to research the history of The South of Ukraine in the XIX century till 1922 in the context of the modern Ukrainian nation forming. The subject is the South Ukrainian aspects of the modern Ukrainian nation forming. The methods of research: analytical, inductive, deductive, historical-comparative, problem-chronological, retrospective, synchronistical, diachronical. The results of research: the complex research of the South region of Ukraine in the XIX th century in the context of the modern Ukrainian nation forming processes was carried out for the first time in the historiography. It is proved that the role of the South of Ukraine in the Ukrainian nation forming was determined by its developed economy, which played the main role in the common Ukrainian goods market forming, as well as by national cultural, political, social and geopolitical factors. The influence of the political struggle in the South of Ukraine in 1917-1922 on the intensification of Ukrainian national forming processes was analyzed. The success of Ukrainian national forming processes under the conditions of the Ukrainian revolution caused the acknowledgement of the Ukrainian character of the South by Bolsheviks. The sphere of usage: the research of social-cultural and social-political processes in Ukraine in the period of the Ukrainian revolution in the beginning of the XIX th century, the creation of the fundamental work on The Southern Ukraine history, usage in the educational process and state policy.
