Essay

In the dissertation the socio-philosophical conception of legitimation of social institutions is given in the diachronical perspective of development of philosophical paradigms: from ontological via mentalistic to linguistic. At that the instrument of investigation of methodological grounds of types of legitimation - ontological-sacral (mythological and religious) and formal-rational - consists in the notion of rationality. By the mean of comparison the controversial methodological approaches of legitimation of social institutions in the bounds of discursive-ethical and system-functional theoretical strategies are explicated. A special part is devoted to the analysis in the context of post-metaphysical thinking of projects of legitimation in the conceptual frames on the theory of justice as virtue, to the examination of postmodern ways of looking into the legitimation (critics of modern grand narratives, recurring description of dictionaries and matrixes). From the standpoint of the factors of depotentiation of institution of national state and democratic legitimacy in the process of globalization of society discursive-ethical methodology of legitimation of institutions is regarded as able to synthesize in itself complementary potential of alternative methodologies and on the basis of intersubjective comprehension to assert in the social life ideals of humanism, tolerance and justice.
