Essay

The reasons for the formation of Ukrainian political emigration, as well as peculiarities of preserving such identities as "Ukraine-motherland" and "Ukrainian citizen" in emigration are enlightened in the work. Government activities of UNR and ZUNR in emigration are reviewed. It is noted that legal status and social adaptation of Ukrainian political emigrants were determined by their political choice. Political-ideological forms of civic position appearance are traced through party structuring, political doctrines' formulating, political orientations' change, and "Soviet phility" оf Halychyna political personalities. It is proved that Bolsheviks in the struggle against Ukrainian political emigration used methods of discrediting political personalities, falsifying source materials, garbling facts; they evolved provocative activity in their surrounding in order to eliminate other competitors in the struggle for power in Ukraine. Having acknowledged their belonging to Ukrainian community, Ukrainian political emigration leaders continued asserting their political choice - existence of independent Ukrainian state; their value system was directed to the preservation of ethno-cultural continuity, historical memory and spreading Ukrainian idea in the world.
