3. Research object: Efficiency of sanitary-resort treatment (SRT), 810 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hypoxic-hypercapnia stimulus (HHS) mechanisms of action . Purpose: To ground the use of respiration assistance expressed as a hypoxic-hypercapnia stimulus in complex sanitary-resort treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods: Complex of indexes for the estimation of inflammatory process, immune system, lipid metabolism, system of lipid peroxide activity and antioxidant protection, functions of patients cardio-respiratory system; medicinal and physiotherapeutic treatment. Theoretical and practical results: The mechanisms of HHS influence on COPD which are shown in optimization of lung ventilation, increasing of pulmonary volumes, improvement of bronchial permeability on all levels, improvement of cardiovascular system state, increase of patients physical possibilities, improvement of the immune system state due to T-link deficit diminishing, decrease of freely-radical oxidization activity processes and diminishing of inflammatory process in bronchopulmonary system are set. The instrumental and simplified methods of HHS application in COPD in resort and rehabilitation establishments are offered. The algorithm of medical complex choice for the patient with COPD with the use of HHS in combination with the different methods of physiotherapy is developed.Novelty: For the first time the peculiarities of some physiologic systems of organism reaction on the HHS action in patients with COPD were found out. For the first time clinical effects of HHS and some methods of physiotherapy combined application in COPD are described. The new algorithm of decision-making concerning the use of HHS in combination with different methods of physiotherapy for the patients with COPD is developed.Efficiency: The combined application of HHS and methods of physical therapies leads to achievement of successful direct results in 50.0-70.5% cases and successful remote results in 74.1-85.2% cases in resort treatment.Sphere, sector of implementation: Medicine.
