Essay

The dissertation deals with the analysis of the welfare state phenomenon. The thesis focuses on the determinants of the processes of the formation and development of the welfare state, its social philosophical conceptualization and historical versions. The author generalizes theoretical approaches concerning this phenomenon, the history of the shaping and development of the welfare state, theoretical essence and practical importance of this power institute in Europe and Ukraine. One of the most important aspects of the work is devoted to the problem tics of the complex rights of the personality, particularly welfare rights. At the same time the adaptive potential of the modern welfare state for contemporary globalization challenges and its modernization potential are analyzed. The contemporary understanding of the welfare state as a major factor of democracy and freedom is reconstructed. The analysis is centered around different aspects of this power institute in the context of its embeddedness in socio-cultural traditions, its compatibility with dimensions of justice and effectiveness. The thesis emphasizes that the role of the state is getting stronger despite the spread of various theoretical views positing the diminishing its power in contemporary conditions. The welfare state encourages legal development, innovations, social justice and solidarity. Based upon the generalization of theoretical approaches of the formation and evolution of the welfare state, the theoretical essence and practical significance of this institute of power that combines dimensions of justice and efficiency, common and private good are explored.
