Essay

Object: the genetic system controlling developmental rate in wheat: Vrn-1, Ppd-1, Vrd and Eps. Aim: identification of alleles controlling developmental rate in wheat and study of effects of those genetic systems on a number of agronomic traits as well for to the environment of Ukrainian Steppe. Methods: monosomic, cytology, cross-breeding, electrophoresis, statistic. Novelty: the effects of alleles Vrn-1 in spring durum wheat, Vrd and Ppd-1 ones in winter bread wheat on winter- and frost-resistance, plant high, harvest were studied; isogenic lines by Vrd gene system were worked; localization of Vrd genes on the bread wheat chromosomes was carried out; DNA-markers of Vrd1 gene and two QTL of heading rate were ascertained. Results: the genetic system controlling developmental rate in wheat Vrn-1, Ppd-1, Vrd and Eps were identificated; their localization on the wheat chromosomes and frequencies was carried out; effects of those genetic systems on a number of agronomic traits as well were determined andon this base alleles Vrd2 and Ppd-B1a were recommended for a wider breeding utilization. Application stage: original genetic lines of winter bread wheat and spring durum wheat use in the breeding programs of PBGI. Application area: research establishments of UAAS, MES, MAP of Ukraine
