Bezdrabko V. Formation and Development of Document Studies in Ukraine (second half of the XX - beginning of the XXI century).

The thesis is the first complex research in the field of history of the formation and development of document studies and document studies education in Ukraine. Based upon the source and historiographic basis the thesis restored chronology of pivotal historic events that determined directions and basic tendencies of the document studies development as a complex scientific structure. Against the socio-political and socio-economic background it reveals the essence of cognitive processes and peculiar features of the science's evolution displayed differently throughout its existence. Particularly, it gives the activity analysis of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Archives and Document Studies, specialized departments of higher educational establishments, other scientific document studies institutions in Ukraine both of academic and sectoral subordination; outlines the formation of professional periodic reviews, the system of professional personnel training within the specialty "Document Studies and Information Activity", specific features of the document studies development as the scientific specialty. The thesis analyses the essence and significance of the documentary profession studies as regards the formation of the studies' specialty as well as the solution of the personnel recruitment dilemma in the field of information security of any social strata.
