Essay

Object: Halych (with 1539 - Lviv) Eparchy and its organizational structure and legal status. Purpose: on the basis of complex analysis of wide circle of sources and critical use of historiography work at modern methodological level to investigate an organizational structure and legal status of the Halych (Lviv) Eparchy of XII - XVIII centuries. Methods: from the fields of church law, ecclesiology, theological studies, historical anthropology, social history, historical geography and historical retrospective view. Results: the role of church structures is noticed in maintenance of unity of the Ruthenian (Ukrainian) culture, the problem of "westernization" of the Kyiv Metropolitanate and transformations related to it is newly worked out its Byzantine-Slavic ethos. Sphere of the use : understanding of nature of regional identity in the countries of Eastern and Central Europe, comprehension of essence of Churches of Kyiv-Christian tradition, overcoming of cultural and confessional stereotypes and "ecumenical rapprochement" of research approaches of historians and theologians.
