Zavalniuk O. Creation and Functioning of Ukrainian State Universities (1917-1921).

The process of Ukrainian State Universities creation and functioning has been revealed on the basis of specific historical material. Fundamental attention has been given to clearing up the first attempts of turning Russianphones universities in Ukraine into Ukrainianphones ones. The dissertation explains the creation and activity of Kyiv National Ukrainian University, the process of formation and opening of Ukrainian State Universities, normative and legal basis of national Ukrainian education. The author clarifies the staff potential and students’ contingent, financial, technical and information basis of new universities, educational and scientific functioning of Ukrainian Universities, the problems of social protection of scientific, educational, subsidiary and technical workers and students. The dissertation focuses on the places of new-formed universities in the creation of state and educational and cultural revival of the country.
