Essay

It was covered the ideological and historical background of the Ukrainian liberation struggle in specified period, the role of the OUN in the organization structures of the liberation forces. It was analyzed during the birth of the Ukrainian People's Self-Defense in Eastern Galicia, the firstbattles against the German occupiers. Traced the mechanism of the repressive policy of the German occupiers against the population and the establishment of the first division-UPA "West". We give a description of command directed UPA to form the military district and tactical piece of UPA. Particular attention is paid to fighting the UPA-"West" with its creation of support structures.
