Essay

The educational cartography was defined as a branch of science, its importance for development of cartographic component of geographical education and cartographic production was grounded. The place of educational cartography in geographical education and its interdisciplinary links were defined using system approach analysis. The theoretic and methodological outlines such as concept, structure, and place in structure appear of cartographic science and geographical educations were stated. It integrated a number of scientific achievements in various branches of knowledge: geography, cartography, pedagogy, technics, art; involved geographical and cartographical knowledge and educational techniques for use in the sphere of cartographic education, for educational maps' compilation and application. In the structure of cartographic science the educational cartography is the common theme. It contains nearly all basic sections of cartography itself, ramified system of science disciplines and technical branches. Considering the educational cartography from a perspective of theory, procedures and techniques we pointed out the following fundamental spheres: scientific, education and production.
