Essay

Based on the identified organizational and pedagogical requirements and the analysis of the legal establishment of students' self-studies work in higher education of Ukraine in the second half of the XX-th - the beginning of the XXI-st centuries, the process of its development has been revealed as a natural, consistent change in its theoretical definition, practical realization, structural and semantic transformations, and with reference to the identified main stages (1863-1904; 1905-1920; 1921-1990; 1991-2005). The basic theoretical principles of the author's integrated concept of students' self-studies work have been developed in the unity.
