Essay

The thesis is based on a wide range of documentary sources including works of Ukrainian and foreign researchers. Systematically and comprehensively it is investigated the political and military dimensions of the Ukrainian nationalist underground and the rebel army during the Second World War. The thesis has consistently highlights the position of the OUN during September 1939 campaign, the opposition of nationalist underground against Soviet totalitarian regime in October 1939 - June 1941, OUN split in 1940 - 1941. With an exact accuracy author made a reconstruction of the organization, state and military activities of the Ukrainian liberation movement in June - December 1941. It is analyzed the conflict between Ukrainian liberation movement and the German occupation regime, the transition to underground nationalist insurgent forms of struggle, the armed confrontation with security forces of Nazi occupiers and their allies. Special attention is paid to the evolution of structures and program documents of the OUN in 1943 - 1944, measures aimed at organizing national representative of the Ukrainian liberation movement.
