Essay

The object of the research is the students of the Soviet Ukraine in 1921-1936 as a separate social and demographic group. The aim of the dissertation is to analyze objectively the particular features of the everyday life of the students in the Soviet Ukraine in 1920-1930ss using a complex researching of the sources and modern methods of historical investigation. The following methods are used: the method of socio-cultural analysis, local analysis, the sociological method of analysis ‘Who am I?’, problem and chronological analysis, historical and comparative method, historical and genetic method. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that the process of adaptation of the people from non-proletarian population by birth to the state power requirements for entering higher educational establishments is characterized; the main elements of the ‘I-image’ of the students are exposed which allowed the people from non-proletarian population by birth to get higher education; the particular features of the academic process for proletarian youth organization are determined. For the first time in the research the changes in the relationships between the staff of professors and teachers and the students as well as the methods of resisting of the ‘new’ students to ‘old’ professors are investigated; the gap between the financial status of the students and the quality characteristics of their life is analyzed; the life-styles and the contrast between the leisure-time of different groups of students of higher educational establishments are characterized. The practical significance is proved by the fact that the results of the research can be used in academic books on history of Ukraine, history of culture and education as well as for designing course books and textbooks, methodical complexes on history of education, science and culture for higher educational establishments. The sphere of use is higher educational establishments.
