Essay

Object: Ukrainian-Polish conflict during the Second World War as a historical process and its historiographer and social context that recorded in the writings of Ukrainian and Polish researchers. Aim: to analyze trends in scientific research Ukrainian-Polish conflict in the western part of Ukraine during World War II that produced by Ukrainian and Polish historiography, to identify unknown and little-known aspects of the problem, moving away from ideological biases, analyzing achievements of scientists, assess the level of scientific development of Ukrainian-Polish resistance during the Second World War, their place and importance in modern Ukrainian-Polish socio-political and cultural relations. Methods: historical, logical, systematic and structural, statistical-analytical, comparative-historical, problem-chronological. Results: for the first time available scientific-historical and journalistic works of Ukrainian and Polish authors in the history of Polish-Ukrainian conflict during the Second World War are systematized, provides characterization of historiography periods that reflect the dynamics and characteristics of accumulation of knowledge on the said topics, identifies complex of discussion issues that requiring of depth analysis of ethno-political and socio-economic reasons Ukrainian-Polish conflict, outlines possible approaches for further study, improved theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of Ukrainian -Polish conflict in Volhynia and Galicia in the 1942-1944. Scope of use: for further research of international relations, not only in Ukraine but also in Central and Eastern Europe and other regions, for deepening the friendly international relations, effective activity of Ukrainian diplomacy on interstate arena, during the presentation of disciplines on recent history of Ukraine, Ukraine's political history, the history of state and law of Ukraine, and at the conclusion of the model and work programs of individual regulatory courses and special courses i in higher education institutions.
