Essay

Object: ethno-cultural dimension of social and political transformational changes in Ukraine in totalitarian and post-totalitarian epochs. Objective: summarizing ethno-cultural regional characteristics of the socio-political processes in Ukraine after the Second World War from the standpoint of improving the modern state humanitarian policy, finding an effective model of governance in ethno-national and spiritual-cultural spheres. Methods: general scientific, interdisciplinary and specific historical. Results: for first time calculated and analyzed with statistical material growth rate of the population of all ethnic and national communities and groups for 1959-1989 and 1989-2001 by region of Ukraine, on the basis of which the main tendencies and the nature of ethnic and demographic development in Ukraine the Soviet period and the period independence are defined, the specific of regional development of the church and religious life in the country is identified, the regional dimension of the internal Orthodox conflict is shows, recovery in the last two decades of social and cultural position of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is analyzed, the socio- political problems of active formation of Muslim communities on ethnic basis are shows, the peculiarities of implementation Ukrainian and other languages in the system of government and education, mass communication, at the household level, secondary and tertiary institutions in different regions of modern Ukraine are determined. Scope: for writing general works on the history and culture of Ukraine XX-XXI century, in the educational process of higher education institutions, as well as on modern social management.
