Shandor F. Social-philosophical reflection on phenomenon of Ukrainian national consciousness

The concept of national consciousness is explicated as the awareness of the place and role of the nation in the system of social relations, understanding of national interests and its relations with other national socio-ethnic communities, which are manifested in ideas, feelings, aspirations, etc. Ukrainian national idea appears after the beginning of the formation of Ukrainian national consciousness, but it integrates all the components of this consciousness and gives it the importance of holistic socio-cultural phenomenon. Gaining independence by Ukrainian society was made possible in dependence of growth of Ukrainian national consciousness. Attempts to justify the Ukrainian state (particularly in the different possible versions of the state ideology) outside the Ukrainian national consciousness inevitably leads to dysfunction of Ukrainian statehood. It is identified the key importance of Ukrainian national consciousness for the formation of stable social relationships of trust. It is provided the additional substantiation of titular nation significance for the formation of Ukrainian national consciousness as integrative for different ethnic groups who identify itself with the Ukrainian society and Ukrainian statehood. It is defined a key role and unique value of national consciousness and culture for education of citizens of Ukraine, especially modern Ukrainian Youth.
