Essay

The thesis is devoted to the everyday life of the Ukrainian peasantry under the conditions of the Soviet reality during 1950-60. The thesis presents a multicenter study of the everyday life of Ukrainian peasants in the course of 1950 - 1960 based on the analysis of various sources, domestic and foreign historiography as well as the modern methodology of historical science. The thesis also presents the physical plant (work, its conditions, effectiveness, house holding and nutrition, clothing and social conditions) and intangible, the socio-cultural aspect of everyday life (intellectual culture, holidays, leisure, cultural and educational activities and the attitude toward the authorities). The author considers the physical and intellectual practices to give the rise to the moral and psychological situation, forming the living position of Ukrainian peasants. The peasants have negative attitude towards the local leaders, feeling inferior and rightless.
