Essay

The object of study: social and economic relationships in Ukrainian SSR in the 1920s, organisational and economic forms of peasant entrepreneurship and families’ daily work activities. The aim of thesis: systemic study of organisational forms оf peasant private enterprise, identification of its social and economic features, explanation of quantitative and qualitative characteristics, defining its role and place in agricultural and industrial production and forming of internal market for food produce. Methods: synthesis, analysis, deduction, statistics, logic; chronological problem, comparative, genetic, structural and systemic analyses. Scientific novelty: new conceptual approach to evaluation of economic efficiency of NEP is chosen to be stable and progressive functioning of system of private and cooperative peasant enterprises and NEP-craftsmen; for the first time the organisational presence, role and place of peasant entrepreneurship in economic life of society are regarded as systemic index of compliance with NEP principles, i.e., specific social barometer; for the first time “private enterprise” definition is interpreted as distinctive social and economic phenomenon, which in the 1920s was identified with capitalist forms and “new bourgeoisie”. It is proved that peasant and craftsman made a basis of entrepreneurial system and represented social and professional group which was primarily engaged into sustaining own needs, but under favourable economic and financial conditions sold the produce on the market. Practical value: thesis materials can be used for recommendations in development of legislative base for the revival of agricultural cooperation in Ukraine, for establishing optimal economic forms of private and cooperative enterprise on the branch principle. Scope of use: higher education institutions, legislative and entrepreneurial activity.
