Nikitin Y. The reformed cities of Left Bank and Sloboda Ukraine in the second half of the 19th century: historical aspect of self-government

The thesis deals with the history of formation and acting of local self-governmental bodies in Left Bank and Sloboda Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth century. Peculiarities of preparation and implementation of municipal reform in 1870, 1892 at the territory of Left Bank and Sloboda Ukraine have been systematically studied. The effect of the reforms of the second half of XIX century on the dynamics of the urban population and its composition is found out. The thesis demonstrated the composition of city dumas and boards. The main areas of civil administration practices have been found out. The similarities and differences in the methods of the actual urban projects' realization are illuminated. On the basis of the obtained data the recommendations to improve the efficiency of local self-government bodies' activity on the modern stage of development of Ukrainian society are grounded
