Essay

Object of study: consciousness as a general psychological phenomenon. Purpose of study: determining psychosemantic meaning, structure and psychological properties of the manager’s mature consciousness which creates conditions for the performance of his administrative duties. Methods: theoretical methods: theoretical and methodological analysis, problem-logic method, conceptual analysis; empirical methods: survey, observation, testing, expert survey, content analysis and discourse analysis applied to the carriers of administrative consciousness; mathematical statistics methods: exploratory factor analysis, comparative and correlative analysis, cluster analysis; interpretation methods: systemic-structural. Scientific novelty: the difference between managerial consciousness and professional conscious-ness of engineers was empirically proven; meaning and sense components of psychosemantical structure of managerial consciousness were reconstructed; three quality levels of development of managerial consciousness of working execu-tives (high, medium and low) were empirically revealed and described; relationship between levels of development of managerial consciousness, self-appraisal of managers, leading motives of their activities and semantics of the world constructs of the profession were statistically confirmed; correlation constellations of semantic space of managers with different levels of managerial consciousness were presented; dynamic nature of existence and development of manage-rial consciousness was proven; the optimal conditions for the formation of managerial consciousness in professional genesis were examined; the conceptual model of semantic structure of managerial consciousness was developed. Prac-tical significance: a new research tool was developed: Managerial Decision Making Situations, an original methodol-ogy representing an instrument of determining development levels of the manager’s administrative consciousness; its results may be used in training and to improve skills of managerial cadres and in the practice of organizational psy-chologists for the purpose of diagnosing administrative consciousness; a psychosemantic model of administrative con-sciousness was developed for practical application in the management. Implementation effect: high. Scope of applica-tion: institutions of higher education, research and development institutions, consulting agencies, employment and professional orientation services.
