The object - the system of sportsmen training; Aim - justification of organizational and methodological basics of theoretical training in sport in modern conditions of society functioning; Methods: theoretical analysis and generalization, sociological methods (survey, analysis of documentary materials, expert evaluation), pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics; Novelty - justified the conception of theoretical training in sport, set and described its organizational and methodological level, within which are presented a set of means and methods, principles and functions of theoretical training in sport; set efficiency factors of theoretical training in sport; developed a model of sportsmen knowledge system based on the structural and functional relations of the main and auxiliary subsystems knowledge and its content is the basis of theoretical training in sport; defined the structure and content of theoretical training in the system of sportsmen long-term improvement; Results - defined the problem field in theoretical training in sport and its regulatory framework; set structural and functional features of theoretical training in the system of long-term sportsmen improvement in different sports groups; found subjects attitude of personified part of the sportsmen training system to the problems of theoretical training in sport; justified the concept of theoretical training in sport; designed and specified structural and semantic models of sportsmen knowledge; experimentally tested the effectiveness of implementation provisions of the theoretical training in sport concept; Specialization - physical education and sport.
