Kuzmenko N. Establishment and Development of Higher Education in Chernihiv region (18th - 20th centuries)

The genesis of higher education and pedagogical thought in Chernihiv in the eighteenth and twentieth centuries has been considered complexly for the first time in this thesis. The socio-cultural and organizational conditions that influenced the development of higher education in Chernihiv have been analyzed on the basis of a wide range of archives, manuscripts and published sources. Periods of formation and development of higher education in Chernihiv region have been developed in this research. Organizational and methodological features of the educational process in higher education in Chernihiv have been described. Theoretical views, pedagogical ideas and creative heritage of outstanding teachers and public figures of the region have been revealed and also their role in the development of higher education and pedagogical thought in Chernihiv region has been determined. The peculiarities and the trends of development of higher education in Chernihiv region (18th - 20th centuries) have been considered on the basis of wide range of literature with the aim to adapt them for modern educational sphere.
