Essay

Object: economy and society of the Western region of the Ukrainian SSR in 1964-1991. Objective: to describe the general trends and characteristics of social and economic process, its consequences and prospects in overcoming the pernicious influence in Western region of Ukraine. Methods: analytical and synthetic, problem-chronological, critical-comparative, statistical, analogy, generalization and systematization, micro-historical and factor analysis, archival heuristics, critical comparison and verification of documents. Results: for the first time introduced into scientific circulation a considerable amount of unpublished archival sources that reveal the social and economic processes in the western regions of the Ukrainian SSR in 1964-1991, analyzed the changes in industry and agricultural production in the light of the urbanization transition, studied transformation processes in historically established in the Western Ukrainian areas system of economy and way of life, which formed for centuries, researched ingredients that characterize the social sphere, in particular living standards, using the services of specialized agencies, health care, education, culture, etc., improved research of socio-economic area of the western regions the Ukrainian SSR as subsystem, characteristic of the concept of reforms in industry and agriculture, labor conditions of urban and rural population of the region, analysis of the process of formation of engineering technicians and specialists of agriculture and mass trades, ways of implementation social policy through system of social protection and social security. Scope of application: in the process of preparing special and general courses on history of Ukraine in higher and secondary educational institutions; in writing of generalizing scientific works on social and economic history of Ukraine of modern period, in the local history and cultural work.
