Essay

The thesis is devoted to the problem of development of music and aesthetic education in Ukraine in the twentieth century. Ukrainian people has accumulated vast experience in the field of music and aesthetic education, its traditions lie in the distant past. The author emphasizes the importance of the processes taking place in the musical culture and music education in the twentieth century, and without understanding of which it is impossible to develop the strategy for further development that would meet the requirements laid down in the public conception of education and culture, which core is developmental and cultural dominant. Music features as an art form, emotional and imaginative nature of perception and communication in the musical activity and specificity of childhood indicate that the musical art appears to be the most effective means of influence on the inner world of the child's personality. In pedagogical science and practice of the twentieth century, the creation of the scientifically grounded system of music and aesthetic education raised the important issue. In the second half of the last century music and aesthetic education has acted as a complete musical and educational system. Active search of the ways of music and aesthetic education based on Ukrainian culture took place in the 1990s. The ideas of artistic education developed by the outstanding scientists of the twentieth century concerning the nature of aesthetic education of the younger generation were realized in the concepts of the famous Ukrainian teachers-musicians.
