Essay

The thesis reveals the psychological principles of technical university students' professional and managerial training. The author proposes a model of technical university students' psychological training for professional and managerial activities, describes the content of professional and managerial activities in the broad and narrow meanings and analyzes the types of technical university students' professional and managerial competences that include personal, educational, professional, value and managerial competences. The diagnostic tools used in the research, among others, include the instruments specially developed by the author to measure the levels of technical university students' professional and managerial competences and determine the competences development organizational and psychological factors. The empirical investigation has found low levels of technical university students' professional and managerial competences and grouped the students according to the levels of their professional and managerial competences. The author analyzes the relations between the types of technical university students in terms of their professional and managerial competences levels and the macro-level (technical universities' activities), meso-level (student groups' activities) and micro-level (students' individual characteristics) organizational and psychological factors. The author analyzes the psychological and organizational conditions of technical university students' psychological training for professional and managerial activities, the content, structure and outcomes of the training course as well as the students psychological counseling program aimed at developing their professional and managerial competencies. It is concluded that the self-efficiency and cognitive-behavioral methods can improve technical university students' psychological training for professional and managerial activities. The hypotheses of the research have been confirmed by the empirical research.
