Essay

Study object: pulmonary sarcoidosis; aim - to study incidence and prevalence, structure and semiotics of pulmonary sarcoidosis in Ukraine and develop optimal algorithms of detection and treatment of patients; methods: epidemiological, retrospective analysis of clinical, radiological and functional data; clinical methods, chest radiography and computed tomography, computed densitometry of lung parenchyma, bodyplethysmography, lung diffusion capacity, blood gases analysis, serum ionized calcium, mathematical and statistical methods; novelty: first time there were studied the indices of epidemiology and structure of pulmonary tuberculosis in Ukraine, the results of treatment of patients were evaluated; major causes of treatment failure in sarcoidosis patients were identified; the rate of classic (highly specific) and atypical CT-signs of sarcoidosis with lung parenchymal involvement were determined; it was established that the prevalence and grade of hypercalcemia was independent on a density of dissemination and the character of the disease course, remaining unchanged both at regression and progression of the disease; it was scientifically proven the impropriety of non-interventional approach in management of stage 2 asymptomatic pulmonary sarcoidosis patient in hope for spontaneous regression; first time it was studied the utility of lung parenchyma computed densitometry for determining the accuracy of determination of disease course, the method of evaluation of treatment effectiveness was developed. Area of application - medicine.
