Essay

The thesis introduces theoretical, methodological and methodical backgrounds of the so-cial geographic concept of the regional geodemographic system. The thesis determines key ap-proaches of this concept applied implementation and approbation on the empirical data of Kharkiv administrative area. The research work provides methodological and research backgrounds of the social geo-graphic approach to the regional geodemographic system investigation. These backgrounds in-clude the conceptual and terminological frameworks due to key definitions of this research com-pleted: "geodemographic system", "demographic potential", "demographic behavior", "demo-graphic transition", etc. The thesis highlights the geodemographic features, its functions, and the structure. It also outlines research approaches, procedures, and general framework of its imple-mentation. The thesis presents the theoretical backgrounds of the social-geographic concept of the re-gional geodemographic system from the point of view of the synergetic approach. In particular, the general research approach of the concept implementation has been grounded with a stress made on the actual research levels (regional one, an administrative area, an administrative coun-try, and local communities). The identification of both geodemographic system development, and geodemographic process development has been considered from the point of view of four activity aspects: as a social geographic system constituent, as a socioactogenesis, as the self-development as the self-organization, as the information interchange. The theoretical basics of the geodemographic system social geographic research have been grounded together with the meth-ods and approaches relevant. The content of the original forecasting-evaluating model elaborated by the author has been examined according to the regional geodemographic system. The key fea-tures of the regional geodemographic system development managing have been explained, in-cluding detailed technological procedures and managing criteria.
