Matsiuk V. Development of scientific foundations for the organization of railway transport processes and systems

The object of study - the organization of railway transport processes and systems. The study was carried out using: regression and statistical analysis; mathematical statistics; probability theory and queueing theory (Markov processes); theory of algorithms and mathematical logic; analytical and graph-analytical modelling, discrete-event and agent simulation by object-oriented programming. The dissertation is aimed to solving scientific and applied problems of improving the efficiency of railway transportation process through the development of scientific bases, principles and mechanisms of technological reliability of rail transportation systems at various levels. The result of the dissertation research is to improve existing technological processes of technical and other railway stations, instructions on the calculation of the existing capacity of Ukrainian railways, State building standards for railways design, in parts: definition of the required structure - the number of arrival and departure tracks, train locomotives, allocated available bandwidth of inter-station races and sections-transport and technological lines for the organization of transit trains (with the change of locomotives); standardization of technological operations on the processing of freight trains in the arrival and dispatching yards of technical stations; substantiation of the minimum-necessary reserve of available capacity of railway lines. The results of the thesis can be used in railway reform in Ukraine and in the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union in terms of integration of Ukraine to the European railway transport system.
