The dissertation is based on a solid reference corpus and highlights socio-political, socio-economic, cultural and educational determinants of the formation and development of children's custody in Poland. The periodization of children's custody in the educational theory and practice of Poland during the designated period has been elaborated and determined by the attitude towards a child as a subject/object of the socio-pedagogical process, the specifics of socio-political, cultural-historical, theoretical and methodological foundations of custodianship and education, the axiological context of custodial pedagogy, its emergence and development.
