Essay

In this dissertation we make a complex analysis of the role of mythopoetic factor in development, integration, and representation of the model of national identity on the material of Ukraine in cultural and civilizational context. Applying multifarious collection of sources, profound historiography of the issue, and methodological basis, we reach an explication of the meaning of ontognoseologic principle, according to contemporary epistemological paradigm of knowledge in culture studies; we apply its cognitive and creative potential to categorization, conceptual comprehension and general theoretical analysis of mythopoetic narratives and intentions in developing of model for national identity; we bring to light the content of new conceptual combinations, categorical innovations and approaches to the subject of our study; we substantiate the contextual civilization principle of forming of the national and cultural space; we categorize and differentiate basic semantic elements and discourses; we trace the beginning sand define the counter discourse which shaped Ukrainian identity and promoted its consolidation. In this study we display the structure of the concepts mentality (Mentalität) and the group attitude of mind (Denkweise) in which we distinguish common and different, and the results of our distinction we use to differentiate these concepts in the scientific discourse; we clarify the concept “national identity”, and we declare a new stage of its development. The context of our study includes geocultural and geopolitical images of Byzantium, Kiyvan Rus, Rzecz Pospolita, Russian empire, USSR, Ukrainian SSR, independent Ukraine and Russian Federation.
